Data storage systems (hd)

Системы хранения данныхThe Data Storage System (SDS) is a set of software and hardware designed to manage and store large amounts of information. The main sources of information at this time are hard drives, which have recently reached 1 terabite. The main information repository in small companies is the CBD file servers and servers that are stored on local hard drives. In large companies, the volume of information can reach hundreds of terabite, with even higher speed and reliability requirements. No localized disk servers can meet these needs. That is why large companies are implementing data storage systems (CCS).

The main components of the CCB are: information carriers, data management systems and data transmission networks.

  • Information hosts. As mentioned above, hard drives are now the main source of information (possibly replaced by hard electronic SSD reservoirs in the near future). Rigid discs are subdivided into two main types: safe and productive SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) and more economical SATA. The backup systems also use the tape storage device(s).
  • Data management systems. CCB provides powerful data management functions. The CCB provides mirroring and replication functions between systems, supports non-sustainable, self-restoring areas, provides monitoring functions and backup functions at the hardware level.
  • Data transmission networks. Data transmission networks provide an environment where the links between servers and CCBs or the link between one CCM and another. DAS (Direct Attached Storage) - directly connected to the disk server, NAS (Network Attached Storage) - disks connected online (data access is at the FTP, NFS or SMB level) and SAN (Storage Area Network) - data storage network (provisional access). In large systems Data storage The main type of connection is SAN. There are two methods of SAN based on Fibre Channel and iSCSI. Fibre Channel (FC) is mainly used to connect within one data centre. A iSCSI is a protocol for the transfer of SCSI teams over IP, which can be routed by conventional IP routers. iSCSI makes it possible to build geo-distributed clusters.
