The issue of long-term storage of digital photographs is somewhat deeper than it may appear at first sight. Unlike “operative” files, digital photographic archives should be guaranteed to remain intact for years and decades. Would it seem easier? Many different launchers are available: optical CDs, DVD and BlueRay (BR) disks, all possible flashes and memory maps, routine hard drives and even remote file repositories, so-called file exchangers. The main problem of long-term storage of digital images is the reliability of the carriers, and the capacity, speed or convenience of the use are second-line. It will not be forgotten that the frequency of referrals to files should be taken into account when selecting the information carrier. One case is the optical disk locked in the " century " safe, and another is a permanently filled family album. As one wins, we lose in another, the law applies fully to the media. The perfect repository hasn't been invented yet. We'll try to figure out today's abundance and help make an informed choice without relying on advertising.
Volume. Actually, the more, the better the reserve won't hurt. But if the budget is limited, the required capacity of the host can be applied on the basis of the total number and volume of photographs. The author only acknowledges archives in formats without compression, such as TIFF. In JPEG, photographs are less than 5 times. It's very simple to share the host capacity with the volume of the photo. The first is written on the device itself, and the estimated volume of the scanned picture can be measured by the plate (dimensions indicate maximum colour depth when scanning 24 bat):
